Ouch... my head!!! a good nights drinking and celebrating behind me and i'm left with that fuzzy banging headache of a mixed drink hangover hehe...... anyway, here's the story....

.......It was a crisp, sunny saturday morning, my comfortable bed a distant memory of a 6.15am start to get packed and ready and in the field. Myself and a few friends had risen early and travelled to get to this prime land ready for the hunting with my FHH 'Kaia' and the hope of a pheasant under her wing by the day's end, she was keen and eager and couldn't wait to get going so, as we neared the starting point at the mouth of a big woodland i cast her up to the nearest tree and proceeded to work the undergrowth with friends, no sooner had we started and she was in hot pursuit of a couple of cock pheasants but unfortunately missed them by a whisker.
Recovered and ready to go again we worked the edge of the wood, could see by her attitude she had spotted something moving under cover, then....smack down she goes and nails the first rabbit of the day in fine style, despatched, rewarded, and we're off again, she now has the taste of blood and is eager for the next victim, luckily we didn't have to wait long........We came to a fairly wide 6foot high reeded section dividing two fields, put her up into a tree edging it and proceeded to work the reeds.....an explosion of noise and flapping and a hen pheasant had broken cover....smack!.... she colided with it above the reeds in an instant and took it down to ground....... then came the test..... the reed was so dense that i had a hell of a job finding her as you all know how quiet a bird can be on a kill, and in this cover was proving difficult. I thought telemetry would have to be used to find her if it wasn't for jeff spotting her (another reason why people should always use telemetry!!) we made in, dispatched the hen and moved her and her quarry to a better location to feed up, asnd feed up she did...well rewarded with a huge crop of fresh pheasant we headed back to the truck chuffed to bits and with the need for a celebratory pint fresh in our minds.

a superb end to a superb day. :-D
