Great site, loads off good info, just wish i'd found it sooner. Anyway enough of that.

Just a question on scale displacment on my FHH, thing is shes 9 years old and never had a problem before, it seems like her legs are very dry which probably isn't helping (maybe)

so, has anyone else experianced the same in an older bird (or young)

whats the best way to treat, is there anything to keep the legs/ feet
suppel

can they be dressed, maybe with vet wrap

if anyone has any advice i would appreciate it, cheers Steve

I oil my birds anklets every day and so the legs feet and talons get done as well. Check legs and feet after every days hunting and apply savlon spray to any scales that look even slightly marked.

I use aloe straight from the plant, its excellent stuff. I use it on my daughters nose when she has a cold too

i give my hawks a bit of codliver oil in their food and I found since i started that their legs dont look dry and scaley anymore...they look more smooth and almost shine...the feathers too are looking much nicer now and have a healthy shine. I normally just dunk the head of a chick in the oil.

Try Preperation-H this is very good for circulation as i have used this on my birds since talking to Birch fields Vets in Tarporly when my bird lost its back talon.
Excellent stuff and can be bought over the counter.
