so there is no other risk to the bird by useing them apart from a chance of looseing the bird i dont supose you know how much risk there is of this happening

Bullet jess are fine if, 1) you have correct size eyelet for bullet, 2) you make sure the washer is pushed up to back of eyelet
I dont use them for tethering out in the open, just out hunting, (when a fishing snap isn't secure enough) and on bow in weathering for short periods.
The main problem other than above, is birds that play with them, tho I cant see how they can undo them if they fit properly, even I have trouble some times.

Hi guys ! A happy New Year to you all. I took early retirement about 6 months ago and have been busy supplying Northwoods Ltd a variety of Bullet Jesses,Bullet leashes and Bullet flying jesses.
I know that a number of you have been using them, all be it "fakes".I also know that many of you are also reluctant to use them in the mews ? If they are supplied by me then I can tell you this much. It really depends on the temperament of the bird(nothing to do with the number of times they bait-off) If they constantly bite at the toggles? Then I would suggest you cease using them for the mews. The Bullet Jesses that I make, can take a great deal of abuse. The new vinyl coating is almost impossible for any bird to penetrate.I've had a passage Prairie on the same pair of vinyl Bullet Jesses in the mews now for well over a year now and not a scratch.
When I first introduced Bullet Jesses To the Falconry world I had no idea what the additional benefits would be.They were only ever intended to be used in the field.By using them in the mews as I have done for the last 6 years or so the benefits are unbelievable.Firstly: the bird does not get tangled up(no joke), as with traditional leather jesses, secondly: as a result, tail damage is now a thing of the past.I've attached a few pics of an eyas male coops that has had Bullet Jesses on for the last 7 months (true) Look closely at the deck feathers , judge for yourselves. Cheers Jim.C

Just so we are on the same page UKJAY ! The mews jesses are also field jesses. They are one and the same. Bullet flying jesses ? Now they are something a little bit different. They have the same bullet ends but are attached to the bird prior to the flight and remain on the bird for the duration of said flight. They comprise of 2 separate jesses and have no slits or anything that will cause the bird to get hung up. As far as the cost ? Get the Northwoods price then divide by 7, then take this from the total. Shipping should be added after this. cheers Jim.C

i Will keep you posted on price and availability.
An image is attached to show basic setup.
I would like to have a pair of the bullet jesses, but I would like to know how hard is it to get the bullet in and out of a 5/16 grommet with a wire tie (zip tie) in the grommet as I fly with my bell and transmitter wire tied through the grommet with out jesses when the bird is flying

Josh ! You may want to consider also using the bullet Flying jesses(one jess in your case). You can attach your bell and your transmitter to this one jess.I have done this on many an occassion.I actually use heat shrink tubing along the entire length of the jess/antenna to encase them both.Recently I have been flying my shortwings with a bell on a single bullet jess.Won't come off at all, until you decide to remove it. cheers Jim.C
