i know ill get a lot of ridicuol for this but im willing to take it, i have studied a lot of martial arts since i was young and become accustomed to the "meridians" (the paths the life force follows throughout the body) and i have also studied basic accupressure, it is possible to relieve pain, or make a specific part of the body numb easily, ive therefore thought "what if it were adapted to use in birds" it could be used instead of drugs which could possibly kill your bird! its just an idea at the moment but could be of great use in falconry. they already use accupressure to transport fish safely so they dont become stressed (fish arent a great example, i know) so any CONSTRUCTIVE criticism or help????

Hi BHawk,
Fish are a fabulous example as they are so delicate and many cost thousands of pounds. I used to know of a Discus breeder who used this when he moved his special fish to lessen the stress, not sure how he did it but he swore by it.
I know Accupressure is used in Dogs, Cats and Horses infact with most creatures my mates Monitor Lizard had a couple of sessions and worked a treat and was very interesting to watch the bloke do this.
I am going on a EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) course hopefully in the spring all being well. Which is something similar as this works on meridians etc. I thought this would be useful with my work as I can see so many uses for it etc.
I can't see why it can't be used on birds.
I massage one of my cats paws and he falls asleep in minutes - kind of reflexology :-) hee hee

one of my hawks has had accupuncture. When he was at the vets over night having his boken leg pinned, someone at the practice did it for free as they thought it might help with the healing...hes ok now...but who knows if it was the drugs or the accupuncture that healed him?

maybe they use the cannabis so the birds get the munchies and they can use chocolate (or jaffa cakes) to call them back to the fist
