I went out this morning and spent some time in Kent and Sussex and results are
7 farms visited
1 negative
3 possible (waiting on phone calls)
2 very very probable
1 positive.

I think if all 3 come in possibly 2,000 acres, if six come in 6,000 acres.

On top of 3,000 already got. And a possible 7,000 when shoots are over.

I do not get my Bird until JUNE!!!

I have also a big contact through a Classic car club that could bring more land but not sure how much yet. It could be 100acres to 3,000 acres?
Will not know until Next week

I am so exited , i seem to be addicted to getting land at present. I have only shot on about 300acres so far!

One farmer was doing a Falconry Day coarse next month!.......JACKPOT!
But needs to clear it with his partner. So thats a very very probable.

Going out tomorrow to have a good walk around on the lands providing there is not a snow storm!

thats a lot of land...but have you checked that there is anything on it? I went out and got over 2000 acres before I got my first bird and there were very few bunnies on it! Also dont believe farmers that say...yeah we've got loads of rabbits!

farmer talk:-

we have some rabbits = I have seen a rabbbit on the land this year

We have plenty of rabbits = There are more rabbits then I want on the land, but thats not many

We have lots of rabbits = we have one or two

we have tones of bloody rabbits = we have been shooting them for years and kill 20 a night and you and your hawk wont get close!

We have tones of rabbits, but they dont bother me = Jackpot..the rabbits are there and you will get close to them

My fields and garden are falling away because of warrens under them = yes pelase come with your hawk and take as many as you can!

;-)

Yes i have hunted some and walked others. Still obviously waiting on a few calls but the definate today Had mainly Rabbit which was good as it seems i have a fair bit of Falcon land.
There is a very old disused railway line on one that has some on but i did not have the time to walk all of it but it looks good. Because of shoots in the south its difficult to get it.
Anyway, that's it no more secrets

P.S Anyone from Scotland is welcome and kilmarnock was close to where i was brought up but remember the invitation works both ways:wink:

I was brought up in Dunfirmline and used to go to kirlcaldy and Perth. I was a Dunfirmline Football fan so used to travel a bit.
Sterling was my favourite but Perth and the general area around it was my favourite too.I used to Ferret with an old Guy who had hip problems so used to do most of it for him and he drove me and some mates to some games in return.
i had a mate who's dad worked with mine and because of his job we where r- located here in surrey and i moved to kent.
My mate suffered badly from Ashma and after a year he had to move back up to Dunfirmline (dunfirmline was quite new then) because of the Air down here.People just do not realise how dirty the Air is down here as they are so used to it but he was not.
Sadly he passed on in his 20's due to a car crash but i will never forget him.I still have yet to meet ferrets that where like his two although some have come close and it was so long ago Ferrets where complete strangers until recently but after 3 or 4 sessions my experience came to the fore since i was a Kid.......Can't wait to get my own.

So born in Kent brought up in Dunfirmline and married a Half scots bird back in Kent...Funny old World:lol:
