Beating sticks??

silly question people just use sticks off the ground or do some use proper sticks for job and if so where u get hem any links

i pick them up where ever I am...does mean that somtimes I ahve no stick though :roll: If I had a proper stick I would forget it anyway...like I forget everything else...one day i will leave without the bird!

this place sells a variety of sticks thumb/shepherds etc.
i have tried a thumbstick, i liked them more for shooting as it can be used for steadying the end of the barrell.
these days i use a proper shepherds crook, the hooky bit on the end is usefull for hooking round trees on steep banks to haul my @rse up them.
when im monkeying about with radios etc i drive the stick into the ground and poppy often uses the crook as a vantage perch when im scratching around in the undergrowth with the dog

why not just cut one from a good hazel copse or something? does it really matter whether you have a nice looking stick or not
