How many Harris hawks if they all got on would be comftable to fly in a pack?
If offcoarse at the moment they all came from the same bloodline.

How many would be an average number in thw wild?

How many have some of you Flown in a Hunting Pack before the Regulations of Late.

I fly a cast of unrelated male HH, that's enough for me for the odd occasions they split, more than 3 would loose thier style, and end up with a free for all not cooperation.

i am flying four birds just now and watch them working in a pack and have had no probs with co`operation they all work well 3fhh 1 mhh.
If anything goes for cover the male will flush it out for the females or if we are going for treerats 1 fhh goes up the tree and rips the dray to bits to flush it while the rest hang back and cross the tree till it touches ground then they get it.

At a NAFA meet here in the states, I saw 14 HH in the air at the same time. Only one bird did not get on OK and it sort of sat on the side lines while the others hunted quite well on Jackrabbits. They all took turns at hitting the Jacks, but only 3-4 of them would be on the bunny at a time. The rest sat back and waited for their turn. In the wild, I have personally seen 5 in one group. This doesn't mean that there could'nt be many more.

the most i have seen flying and had part of was 15 Harris hawks. what a sight. but i would say there was also 15 falconers. as far as i know the average family size in the wild is 5 - 15 individual birds

Surely the Danger of two or three hawks coming in for the Kill is opening up a dangerous collision between them.
I saw two as i said and it made me cringe as on one or two occasions they pounced together and i was concerned in case one was hurt . I can't imagine 4 or 5 doing it the danger of damage to ones bird would certainley not be a risk i would want to take.
Three is to me the maximum as any more i would feel that unless slipped seperately would be to dangerous for the birds.

I wouldnt mess with a female harris' if i was the males either lol. They can hunt in large packs, i met a man who flew 10 harris' at once by himself. They would work as a team to killl the quary with the alpha male and female doing almost all of the killing.

I've been out on a field meet on several occaision where the most we've had up at one time is 8, all different owners but only about 5 worked together. In general we go out in groups of 4 or 5.

I worked with a fantasic cast of 3 once (not my birdies), 2 mhh and a fhh, with the two males flushing then swooping up to a vantage point at seperate angles as the fhh struck the quarry, if the quarry was to get lose at all the mhhs would swoop down to strike, but the female didnt often make that mistake. Awesome!:supz: But I did hear of 30 wild in mexico that hunt together!
