Blood Sports / Field Sports

Does anyone agree with me that the term to discribe what we do in the field wheather shooting ,falconry or what ever is to dated and that if the term ''HERITAGE SPORTS'' paints a better picture to people who are sitting on the fence .Blood sports should never ever be muttered by ANYONE who is involved with out heritage sports as it is a turm invented by the ''soapless croud'' and the ignorant.

Hi Jeff Dunno M8 although I do remember when I was racing bikes, the Swiss goevernment went on to ban Motorcycle racing , calling it a blood sport as there was adanger of blood being let. this was back in about 1980 at it was then I new the world had gone mad!!!!!

Makes little or no difference what you call it, there will always be those with their own personal agenda that will see it as they so disire. I would like to think of falconry as, "The Natural Art of Falconry" because it is what the birds do by nature without the help of man. It is not so much that the birds have joined our world as it is that we have joined theirs

Antis will always refer to them as Blood sports mainly because there trying to promote a distorted view of field sports to the general public!

Personally I don't think the term blood sports is correct when used in association with field sports. I can understand the term being used and reffered to with something like illegal acts like dog fighting etc but to use the term with fieldsports is like comparing chalk and cheese!

i like the term field sport, to use the word "blood" only invites some do-gooder who has never stepped foot on grass to start writing letters.

i agree field is the right term but like HH said the anti's AND the media will always term blood sports.........it draws attention better...******s
