God bless em all :D
i had the best day of my holiday yesterday, as some of u know the gos and peregrine are my all time fave birds.
my lil cousin,we call him jugnu, its his nick meaning firefly, he arranged a day with his very good friend, who is the head of transfers opc a police officer, who owns, 7 horses a very rich man, with dancing and race horses with loadsa land, a very nice lad indeed, he arranged for us to see his horses dancing ,i luv horses and he arranged a party for us forfree, using his 12 bore double barrell shotgun to hunt the mqueens bustard, near the big river ravi.
well we were in for a surprise, the party he called out to track down the bustards were 2 falconers haha, i swear i have been dying to meet falconers for 2weeks, this place is 20 mins out where we stay , guess what themaster falconer came along with his student,a trapper and trainer of passage hawks, comes along with 2 goshawks, on my thanked God so much for this wonderful day, i never ever touched or held a gos in my life, my beloved hero bird.
he didnt know i loved birds of prey and called them out by chance to help us find the bustard that day, thebirds werent ready to hunt that day, they were a bit overweight and the lads didnt knowthey will be called out suddenly, so they took us out, first of all they hadnt any meat left that day, the first gos tries to chase a bugla, some kind of white bird, long legs and a mohican and a massive beak
well it chases it but looses interest, it was overweight,so it flies a bit and sits on the tree, doesnt wanna get down.
so we have to go and shoot some birds haha,i got the pics and on vid too.
i aint tried a shotgun for10 yrs, i missed but the other lad shot a few ,so the hawk came down before we could take the birds to them anyway.
they come here every winter the falconer said, and he traps goshawks and shaheens, but says the gos is his fave too, he loves them.
i made a mistake and told them they cost 2k thefemale gos in the uk haha,so i asked him, how much do u sell them for, which was stupid, coz he would have raised his price,he said 30.000 rupee's trained, or 20,000 untrained
300 pounds and 200 pounds it calculates, a bargain haha a massive bargain, coz the breed looks like the german gos, same pattern , so the police officertells me,bullshit in private, he said he sells them for 5000 rupee's to 15000 rupee,s 50 pounds to 150 quid lol.
so he tries to sell me the young one, he caught 15 days ago, between 4 to 6 months old, with baby feathers like a sakers pattern, hasnt had its first moult of course.
i said mate i cant take it to the uk, law forbids it,specially since the bird flu, he says, keep it here, isaid well who is gonna look after it for a yr or 2.it will be silly.
but the lad was nice, he took us out and showed us the best shooting sites, guy was awesome, well the gun jerks alot coz i aint used to it,hot scorching dessert land and massive river, so beautiful.
so i asked plz can i hold, your goshawks, he said sure, take the older one
i touched them both alot, not a foot or nip on my fingers, so well manned and beautiful, i loved them both so much, let me touch it on the head, beak, brow, back and talons, not a nip, loved it,so kept it for 2 to 3 hrs
this one was the ruthless killer, one eyed beast, blind in one eye,it nailed itself trying to unhood itself, when he first trapped it and trained it, lost an eye, but still a lovely hunter, the young one was so awesome like a baby, still getting trained but does hunt, the student was hauding that bird.
lol for a laff they put both of them on my shoulder, but the older female decides to hop on my head,im so lucky,it didnt nail me haha, it would have been nasty
i got a photo of it haha, i will post it when i get back.
i swear horses, gos, desert heat, u could only dream of it.
it was an awesome day
he told me to come back before i go and he will get them ready for me hungry and ready to kill, i wouldtry to get back before i leave
pakistani jess and anklet very nice, made thick so the birds cant bait they just stay on theglove,, leash is nice too.
he was using a homemade 3 fingered glove and even holds it on his bare hands in such a way, brave.
i just wish i could have owned these, the one eyed beast was my fave gos, a proper killer and well manned bird
cheers
will post thepics once i get hame
