was flying my kes at 2 pm today when she got mobbed by gulls and spooked, somehow i doubt theres enough people in my area to make it worth posting but i will anyway, i'll be up at first light looking though, this bird was such a cling on i thought she was impossible to lose, her weight was a bit high though, I'm just praying i find her tomorrow

any telemetry claire?
Claire
12-12-2005, 07:55 PM
no unfortunatly used to fly this bird at the centre i worked at and we never used telemetry on her she is usually a total cling on its just that she got spooked, she was 1/4 oz up on her ideal flying weight but more or less within the range i usually fly her at. at the moment she has only been flying to the glove.

My male will stay airbourne for 30 minutes and only loose 1/8oz, so you may have a keen bird in the morning.
Good Luck:!:

if i dont find her today i may head over to the centre she used to live at tomorrow, even though its pretty much gone, well all the birds are gone but she might recognise the building and lake and hang around there, today i will look locally though, she should be hungry now anyway, I'm ready to go looking just waiting for the sun, got spare jesses as she has a habit of pulling them out

Hi Claire sorry to hear of your lost Kes hope you get her back soon.
You should ring Juliana at the IBR tel# 0870 60 88 500 and register in your name. you stand a better chance of getting Kes back if they know who to contact. Are the people you used to work for still arround? try ringing them as well as the IBR or someone else may have sent the bird back to them. Just a thought.
Be lucky
Terry

got some good news ish, as my bloke was walking to mine he spotted her, called her name and she reacted but didn't come down, she flew to some trees nearby and wouldn't come down but it was dark by then, spoke to the person in the house and they said there was a kestrel sitting on their lawn this morning, will go there before sunrise in the morning and wait, its looking more hopeful anyway
