Correct size is a matter of choice, I like small ones myself. About 5mm, but most seem to go for 9mm. Up to you?

Pop a link on here and we will let you know what we think of them. Personally I prefer the blue handled one.

I dont know if you have seen them but I prefer using the heavy screw type. Its just much kinder to the bird when you get it on in one go and your not repeatedly squeezing with the plier type.
I make my own but I think castle falconry sell them in differing sizes.

Christ, how did you manage to miss the birds leg with a hammer? Did you use a claw hammer or a mallet?
I can just see it now. Poor little birdy covering its eyes with its wing tips, peeping out of one eye, shivering with fear, waiting for the hammer to drop. The hammer draws back slowly. The handler grins with power and evil in his eyes. Strike!!!!!!!! The bird faints and wakes up seeing its new shiny anklets. Its just like a scene out of Psycho. LOL

i use 8mm (inside diam') on both my male and female harris'.
some use 8mm (inside diam) on males and 10mm (inside diam') for females.
its personal preferance.

The owner was killed Albie, 2 years ago I think - the website was still going after his death. Maybe this is the reason for no reply.
