What is the most important to you guy's
1 How much quarry you have bagged come end of season
2 Or the the spectacular flights you have witnessed by your BOP
but the quarry got away....

great flight made by my hawk wins all day as you could take a good head of quarry by mug shots by bolted rabbit as they leave the burrows,so fantastic flights win hands down for me

BOTH!
every one wants to see a real good flight, but we also like to see our birds catch something.
spectacular flights are the best thing.

number 3 ...a great flight when the bird catches what she has put her heart and soul into...theyre the ones that make you remember...

Always has to be a great flight; regardless of the final outcome..............there's always another rabbit or pheasant etc. but that flight may never materialise in such a way again!!!:supz:

What is the point of notching up kill after kill if they are just a case of your bird dropping from a tree onto the quarry, for example? The style of the flight has to win everytime, surely?

no one said it needed to end in a kill...but a great flight with a catch...beats the hell out of a really great flight with a miss.....

It should all be about style. The serious falconer is forever trying to seek flights which tax his birds' skill to the full, not trying to put a few extra head in the bag. Of course, the skilled performer, flying in suitable country at strong, fit quarry, will kill enough to please anyone, without resorting to "mugging" type flights. I see little merit in flying easy quarry. It's a sport, after all.

which is one reason i try to keep flying from trees to a minimum...

I do quite the opposite in the case of the harris'. From the time I release the bird from the vehicle, to the time I put it back, it may not be on the fist at all. Just my way with this species. I believe the harris' only reaches its potential if given the liberty to make its own choices. We each have our own ways.

Number two for me aswell. Any bird can catch a rabbit, its how it does it defines the style and fun..

not any bird can catch a rabbit...it takes hard work time and effort...if it was as easy as that then anybody would be doing the sport and there wouldnt be so many people on here asking advice about getting their birds to make that first kill.....

Certainly wouldn't dream of arguing Paul (not much), but my way's better than yours, so there!
I must be getting mellow in my old age. Going out of my way to avoid an argument. This won't do my reputation any good at all.

id have to say it would be the number of impressive flights the bird has during the session.
