View Full Version : My tiercel is gone :(
Hi peeps.
Today my tiercel just start to going fine. He was circling around me more than 1 hour and than the snow start to falling. He dont come to the lure coz he afraid from the snow.... his weight was perfect and the temperature was perfect 2! He sat on a tree and than come to the lure and than scared from the snow and go back 2 a nother tree, this pattern goes 4 sum hours and than he start to fly again the wind start to blow very hard and it grabs him away from me through river Danube.... I got strong signal 4 5 minutes and he was possibly just circling on the other side of the river....than the signal stopped, not like when ur bird go away and the signal start to drop....it just dissapeared :( there was dangerous mediumhigh voltage posts where the falcon lost and also sum gun hunters on ducks :( I think he grilled on a post or shooted down by the hunters(I cannot hear the guns voice coz the wind was blew from me to the hunters[and my falcon]) The only hope that he is alive that only just the transmitter grilled on the post and my tiercel afraid from the bang what the transmitter make when connected to the post. Tomorrow I will go out and have a look maybe he will search me back at the point where I lost him.
I am hoping and hoping, but I just have to realize that he is already dead,
Dan.
sorry u lost him m8, but keep looking for him, maybe a cap went loose on the transmitter, or batteries where down or maybe he flew out of the receiver line of site etc. all the best finding him
thanks Sean. He cannot fly out of range coz the I catch max signal than its dissapeared..... I used tailmount secured with tape(the cap secured) the batteries were new also the transmitter, my receiver also tested its working fine!
hmm, would the snow interfer with the signal much? if its tape isnetad of a cap, could snwo get in the transmitter? dunno much about telemtry, but just think of anything possible
impossible m8! its the best Luksander telemtry sys. waterproof ect.

I'm sorry to hear you lost your falcon. Hopefully like you said earlier, you will find him in roughly the same area where you usually fly him.
Good Luck...

Well, that doesn't say much to me... I was after a bengal eagle owl for 4 days, after one of those tranmitters stoped working, just like yours. I had a strong signal, but all of the suddenly it stoped and I didn't got anymore signal from him. Luckly we got a visual and managed to get the bird back...
Good luck Dude!
I hope ur right m8! Ur r the first who told me that!

I've had the same problem with all of my lanners. When I flew this years tiercel for the first time in the snow he was up for nearly 30 mins every time he caught the lure he let go when I tried to bring him down.Eventually he came down to the fist. The days after that I didnt fly him but fed him on the lure in the snow and then started making him run over the snow to get the lure .That worked and now he has no problem with the snow.I've heard this is quite common with lanners.
Hope you get your bird back Chris CZ
With peregrines I think its also the same like lanners, but there is a difference. Lanners have brain, but peres dont have too much on the mind side. I was flying one female lanner and she also was afraid from the snow, but as u wrote I easily called her 2 the fist, without any hesitation. I also tried to call him to the fist, but he isnt interested too much...
Thanks Chris!

well yesterday and today and of course the day before yesterday I just searching 4 my falcon and I cannot catch any signal..... Today at 6:30AM a fella falconer ring me up that he caught a very weak signal. I just get my clothes and went to the location where he catch the signal. It was a bit different frequency than mine, but when the battery is low on a transmitter it could happen..... I drived sum 40kmeters to the signal and realized it is a reflected signal from a high church tower, I climb on a mobile phone tower and catch the signal from that direction where I came from... I drive back and catch no signal, but catch the reflected, so I went to the direction where was the signal came from... When I planned to go back to my fella to look 4 the signal again, on the way I catch the signal, but not the reflected one.... I went after the signal and U was getting closer, I found the point where it came from....It was came from my fellas house, I go in and ask him to look 4 his transmitter and its was off he told me I take a look on it and I spinned the cap once and the signal was over.... its funny, but he caught his own transmitter and I chase the reflected signal, the transmitter was between off and on and the battery was reached the cap a little bit.... This fella is living on a hill and it was reflected from the church tower at the valley of river Danube.... okay its funny, but oh **** I was thought I will find my tiercel, so thats the Xmas present 4 me this yr :(

I had a saker out for a week, with no signal at all... I thougt she was lost, until a week after someone called a friend of mine saying there was an "eagle" eating pigeons on a church not to far. I went there, and there she was, eating a pigeon on the floor, mantling and with 100 people around her...
So, don't give up Dude!! Good luck m8 and as far as possible Merry Christmas...
I am hoping... Merry Xmas 4 u too m8!

Is he Kite trained? If so, then fly the kite in the area where you hunt him. I know it's been a few days, but it could bring him in. You never know.
-- BIRD_DOG
nope m8, I never used kite, but in this case it can be usefull, but sadly he dont come to the kite coz he wasnt trained at it.... I walked hours at the direction where he was dissapeared and I saw manymany of those deadly posts...... :( I think he grilled on one of these shitz.... I looked under some of these post to find his body, but there are many foxes so the body was possibly eaten at the night when he was lost...

Havn't read all this thread, but did you say you were using Luksander?? if so, what batteries ??? If you use the wrong ones the transmitter packs up especially in cold weather !!!
Sure hope you find the bird...good luck
I used the right batteries m8 as we sell luksander telems, The day before yesterday I got a phonecall when flying....the guy told me there is a bird with ropes on his leg, the guy told me that the bird sitting on the 15th floor flats balcony... I ran back to the car and go to the location what was about 12kms from me... I was there in 10-15minutes, and just when I reach the street where the bird located my phone ringed again, the same guy told me sorry the neighbours come overthere to see the bird.....when they go closer to the window or donno what they does the bird scared and fly away... I donno that bird was mine or not, but if I catch sumones elses bird its a pleause to give it back to its owner.
