rat bite !

anyone had similar , wee midge hit his first rat a few weeks back , we only detected one abrasion on his scaly leg .however he has discovered a second which we missed ...on the underside of his pounce .and unfortuneately he has hoked and poked at it himself too .........and is now being treasted by Vet ......my query is .How the hell do you stop a bird picking at the damned thing ?
does anyone have any slippers ??(to put on him to stop him getting at cut !)
