I have seen birds treated by 2 falconry vets where a ball of clinical dressing is placed in the foot and the toes securely taped around the ball as if the bird is gripping it. I think it was about billiard ball sized for a female Gos. and a Falcon.
Can any one else give more detail?

try putting some cotton wool around the cut on the toe/foot and then rap it with vet-rap. you can get the vet rap from your local vet.
If the cut is bad then take it to avian vet, if not, it should be fine for what is suggested. If it is quite bad take it to vet as it may get infected. They will probs give you gel and some other stuff to rap the wound in so the hawk doesnt keep picking at it.

Just a quick piece of advice, if you do use vet rap, be very carefull when you dress it as it can easely cut of the blood supply.

I did hear of using a tennis ball to tape the foot to not sure if its a good idea or not.

i think that you should leave her too it, if the cut is bad she should be on anti-biotics:)

Hi, this is first time on forum so hope this is going to the right place!, you could try putting a large lump of dressing under the foot to keep foot open then bandage around foot with that strange bright coloured bandage you get from the vets, its kind of rubbery and self sticking. We used it on our steppes eagles foot and it stayed put for two weeks.
I hope this is of help

Your next problem may be the hawk pulling off the dressings. I stopped a jess biting peregrine from that habit by smearing the jesses with English mustard! Bitter Aloes from your local chemist would probably do the same job.

Something else you can do is add a "decoy" to the wrapping. Put some tape low down on her ankle (or wherever, someplace near but not too near the bandaged spot) and make a little tab of it sticking out. She'll (hopefully) pick at the obvious thing rather than the dressing itself. Vet did this with my RT when he broke his leg and it worked like a charm
