That was an interesting article about the Teratorn.
While looking further into the subject, I found information about the extinct Haast Eagle which is similar, but smaller and was thought to weigh around 10-14 kg (22-30.8 pounds). http://www.nzbirds.com/birds/haasteagle.html
Imagine the strength needed to simply restrain the either the teratorn or Haast Eagle if they decided to bate!

forget the bating, these things would simply eat ye.
ive seen some very interesting nat' his' programmes about these huge eagles, where they found their skulls etc. what a size. 10 times larger than a goldie or something.
has anyone heard of the thunder birds of north america? (not the puppets).
apparently they were named thunder birds by the native americans. they used to steal their children. anyway, there were reported sightings of these birds, as short a time ago as 10 years or less. some kids were lifted from their front lawns and being carried off. then the parents would appear and hold the kids legs etc. i aint making this up, there have been programmes on about it.
just realised you are from canada biarmicus, have you any info?? please say yes, people will think ive gone soft in the head. oh you have, great tell us more.....

Hi Harrisi,
I have heard of both the bird and puppets from the TV show:lol:
I have heard the myths about the Thunderbird on discovery channel etc.
Something about the sightings??? I don't know... Some Condors and Golden or Bald Eagles can look pretty big. There have been I think, 5 or 6 reports of sightings of the Thunderbird. If it is that big of a bird with thunderous wingbeats other people would of seen it too.
