Sensors?
CCTV?
Barbed Wire?
I am thinking of setting up some of these, How can the Sensor be set up?
Probably a Dumb question, But surely a Bird will set it off?
Is it set just Outside?:axe:

if someone wants to knick your bird then trust me they will, the best security is tell very little you have a bird of prey ,fly it on private land dont stand in your front garden with your bird on the fist and show the world or walk the streets with the bird on the fist, then your bird should be quite safe

Pressure pads around the weathering shed are a good thing linked to a buzzer in your bedroom CCTV is great so long as you are there to watch it,
Watching a video of someone nicking your bird is not a lot of help once it's gone, by the time the Police decide to come and see you your bird could be anywhere and then they have to try to identify the people involved in it, Wildlife crime in Kent is a very low priority.
Insuring your bird helps a bit if the Insurance company decide they are going to pay out but they will normally look for a way out and not pay you.

Because if i am in court i have to be seen to be making an attempt. Will look good with the brief.
You can't tell me that there are not many on here that would do the same.
Terry, You could not hit a barn door from 20 yds anyway so stick to your cameras and old Sheep shagger will obviously be entertaining one at night anyway.
I did not spot one Sheep on the Isle and now i know why?
Infact, There where no Animals?

Minty theres prob no need for such measures...I suspect at some point you will be the object of unwanted attention (or at least the mews will be) but having it so close to the hose, if anyone tries to steal the bird i reckon it will mak equite a lot of noise as they try and catch it. Maybe just having it freelofted is the best bet, to make it harder to catch-depending how tame it is. The other thing-simple security lighting. Cheap, easy to fit and very effective.

Also how about a layer of gravel in the mews or around it? No thief wamnts to have the sound of his footsteps crunching into the night air.

One final thing-make sure the bird is readily identified as yours, not just by an IBR ring but have it chipped as well

I have security lights with sensors, CCTV also with sensors but when out I always turn the video on. You can also fit cheap shed alarms to the doors.
Security lighting is one of the best deterrants; as soon as the light comes on any one in the garden will not want to be around in the light for long..........

A mate of mine uses some form of shotgun cartridge without the shot. It is all set up to some form of trip device. He has a number of them placed around the garden in plant pots, etc. The theory of how they work sounds cushty to me. When activated they go "BOOM/ BANG!!!!". The thief *****s himself and runs. I think you can buy them from any armoury supplies or specialist country sports store. I dont know what they are called but they sound bloody good.

Henry Krank Gunsmiths in Pudsey W Yorks sells them they are called alarm mines and cost around £6-8 each. they do go with one hell of a ***BANG*** the blanks for them are expensive i think around £2 each sold in boxes of ten? you could always use live shells, and for the added 'impact' surround the cartridge with steel tube!!! Would serve the ******s right!

dont know if youll find them on the web site, but they do mail order:twisted:

Security for Foxes no problem as it has under lawn and mews wire mesh with pea shingle on outside mixed with earth which covers broken Glass (not inside obviously) so any tunneling and the fox will end up with sliced paws.
Security measures are now in place for theft. Being in the army years ago i still have a few contacts and there is now a device installed that makes pressure pads look like kids stuff.
I can't tell you what it is but it will not scare the bird but the thief will be disabled and its not the bird i will hear as well!
A small Clue, its been used for over 100years and is still used by special Forces today , Very Very Effective.
