What a nightmare. Equipment failure or did someone cut it loose had that happen to a friend of mine . We eventualy caught the guy had the bird in his garage free lofted said he felt sorry for the bird and wanted to release it but ended up keeping it.A neighbor tipped off the police. Anyway wish you the best of luck in getting him back

Know how you feel M8 i lost a H/H at the start of the season and never been seen again
Good luck M8
You said that you think a clip came undone, was it a spring clip or something I was always told by my sponser and every other falconer to not teather a bird with any kind of snap.

good luck on finding your bird. A friend had one slip of as the wrong leash was used on the swivel and it had a smaller knot and slipped through swivel when baited. Luckily bird was waiting outside for them. We use plastic washers on the leashes to stop it happening or a piece of round leather. Good luck again don't give up.

had him on a raptor post and the guy i got him from used a leash with a dog clip on so that it stayed fixed to the post instead of having to keep tying knot seemed like a good idea guess not.
yeah i know the bristol boys the word is out and police ibr rspca have all been informed
Wes,you need to call me.,we didnt know anything about it:confused:  a bird was seen today,Gary went to check it out, thers 4 of us here who knew nothing about it:!: :!:

just a bit of good news every one got him today having chased through woodland for an hour i decided to throw the rabbitt and sit quiet in a hedge i did this and after about 20 mins he landed on the rabbit and started to fed so i made in an simply picked him.
now the reason he didnt just simply come down is he killed a neighbours chicken so for the cost of a chicken igot him back.
thanks for everybodys help and support.

Excellent news, chuffed for you. But word of warning for everyone using dog clips - don't! I've heard of this several times, birds being lost due to dog clips snapping/spring weakening. It may be a shortcut short term but fasttrack to a disaster!

I am really glad to hear of your successful recovery!!!!
One quick question though, I am a bit perplexed. Was your bird left tethered outside unattended? If so, is there not a concern of it becoming a meal for a wild BOP or any other preditor ?
Sincerely
Henry
