I'm a complete newcomer to falconry and at the moment and just reading all the books on the subject, I also intend to get out to Newent to do there week long course. At the moment I don’t have the room to keep a bird, and anyway getting a bird now would be cruel and stupid.
Anyhow, to the question: Do you guys have any recommendations on books? I'm reading Falconry and Hawking at the moment but wondering where to go next.
Anyone in Gloucestershire or Oxfordshire have the time to take me out and show me some basics?

Hi Phill1012K,
Welcome to the forum,
These are some of the books I have read...
Falconry Manual by Frank L. Beebe (This book is aimed more towardsfalconry in the US, as I don't think you can used bagged game in the UK. Still a good book though.)
Falconry and Hawking by Phillip Glasier ( I will be using this book to train my first bird.)
Falconry Equipment by Bryan Kimsey & Jim Hodge ( Good book if you want to make your own equipment.)
The Encyclopedia of Falconry by Adrian Walker (This is more like a dictionary than a training book. But it has come in handy for me on several occassions.)
Good Luck on the falconry course! Tell us how it turns out.:supz:
Hope this helps,
Brittney

Adrian walkjer's new book is ace, someone's borrowing it ATM, otherwise I;d give you the title. But is has equipment, training and more usefull stuff like that if you want a harris hawk as a first bird.
Other authors like Emma ford, Jemima parry jones and maybe lee william harris but not many ppl are fussed on him. also modern falconry by diana durman walter's.
