What do you fly and how long have you been doing it etc etc,

Maybe this thread maybe of some help for people to know in the future.

I have been physically flying HH and experiencing the joy of flying and hunting, since the beginning of this season. So im just a baby acting like a sponge, but willing to pass on what has been taught to me. I have a mentor that helps me with my journey.

lol! I fly gyr/saker shiro and will start training (once she's finished moulting) Jabbu - lanner falcon. I got my first bird, Afra in July (?) 04 I think. So, not long!

I found a pic of me, when I was 2 flying a Harris in Wales somewhere (with a hand from mum and the falconer!) So, thats the first time I ever held a bird of prey!

Got a interest when we moved in the summer of 1996 and did my first owlett's course in 1997.

Centre changed hands then I did another owletts course with the new owner's then the 10wk course and looked after the Kes for 4weeks? Think so lol.

Then met Terry a year ago and helped out every now and then! Sorry if the dates are wrong but thats all I can remeber??? Thats all I done! I was going to get a harris hawk when I was 10, first time I when to the falconry fair met a guy with a golden eagle (later took over the centre) and got the glove and box and a cool leash (green he he!) but I decided aginst it and got budgies instead! (yeah I was stupid I know!) so I waited for 4 years to get my bird!

so, ppl who keep saying "learn a bit more about the whole falconry experience" and "start from the beginning like we all had to" its what Im doing!!!!

I fly a FHH in her third season which is the offspring of a male I flew for eight years.
I trained a kestrel when I was 11 years old and have in between flown a number of male Harris' Hawks ,a Female Common buzzard, female Sparrowhawks and a male Goshawk which I imprinted some 15 years ago, bought from Griff in Wales[had him for 4 seasons].Also had a Female Hobby for a number of years.
I would like to have the time to imprint another Goshawk using the current new methods and fly a Peregrine at game but a demanding young family at the moment dictates otherwise.

I'm flying a cast of Harris hawks M&F which I started with from August and I'm completely absorbed into the whole thing.I've learned a hell of a lot since then;be patient, keep a log of everything you do,learn about your quarry as well as your bird and don't go to a stag night in Amsterdam.
I'm loving it!
Spending too much time with the with the birds at the minute and the Mrs is getting p****d off so I'm flying by the seat of my pants at the moment!

good luck all.
