agree why clip a bird like that unless your an inepct owner feared of losing the bird.... prosecution not good enough......thats disgusting....and you have found the ownes you say???........i trust the RSPCA ( for what they are worth ) are looking into it?

i think that i recognise the bird, cant prove who clipped her so badly, have not found the last owner yet but would dearly love to see them banned from owning any birds for life. rspca were not interested when bird was reported to me, so went out to find her myself, so hungry she walloped my fist so hard you would not believe. i want to find the owner but she will not be returned to them.posted found within half hour of finding her but due to her bedraggled condition and it being dark did not see extent of damage until first light next day.bear with me, you cant educate morons or vermin.
thanks

are you sure they were clipped and not broken? before we slay them :-)

after all you did think they were buzzards feet and not a red tails :-)

they were definately cut clipped is too minor a word other than her primaries all her feathers had been cut straight across her back and i mean short you could only see how badly when she mantled. what do you do do stay out in the dark with a wet and starving bird thats not yours while you inspect it or get it back to a decent aviary and crop it up and save detailed inspection for the morning. only trying to help yknow.

Welcome Billy Bird!

Keep up the good work and enjoy the forum.

My first thoughts were the same as Kevin's, how do we know that someone else never clipped the wings after maybe stealing it or some other reason?

Could you post up some pictures, as an on going report of the birds improvement; The bird could have been cut by a person that had poultry or pigeons that it happened to land near and instead of killing it, cut the feathers hoping a fox or something will do the job for him!!!!!!!

Hi guys, sorry you all lost me for a few days but bin bloody awfull busy, will get to answer all your queries if i can over the next couple o' days.

one is i think i know this found bird because about 8 mths ago a guy turned up to see me said he had aquired his first raptor and could i go look n give him some advice which i did, he's all fired up and is gonna do wonders, so i admired bird she is nice, advices him, so he ignors it all as they do, then all of a sudden this **** who is gonna set the world on fire with his newly aquired bird is birdless, hes flogged it for about a tenner more than he had paid for it.
a couple of months later another fool ( sorry i know them all )rings and asks can i put anklets and jessies on a harris hawk for him, goe's to his house spies a redtail takes a gander and (yes youve guessed it) did you get that bird from so n so answer yes, thought i recognised it says i.a once steady bird was now baiting like theres no tommorow, a couple of weeks later his house and garden is empty and the neighbores if they know where he is aint saying, so wether he sold the bird on and made himself a lousy tenner god only knows, so there is my dillema as to who has done what.
the bird is still with me n coming on well again.

will post a pic of the bird over the weekend but she does'nt look nearly as awfull as she did a week ago and she is weighing in at 3lb 1oz fully cropped still mantling and yelling second she gets her food guess she has a long memory and knows what hungry means. on this about the rspca not wanting to know when called, they were called before i was, they said over the phone that the bird was not in danger and was not suffering. well, in her early days some one had worked bloody hard with her because that shows, but she has probably never been entered, hence she was starving and still looking for someone to feed her, plus she had 1 jessie still attached plus a swivel and the other jessie attached to that, so if that does not put the bird in danger of getting snagged and breaking her her legs and wings in sheer panic i dont know what doe's, so much for the new animal welfare laws that the rspca are trying their dambdest to lay on us, i honestly feel that in the same it's my bird but i'm not interested situation you ALL, and i would be procecuted. my gripe is ok there are some right gits about sure but i'm worried that no matter how hard you care for your birds the new all powerfull unelected political rspca will soon criminalise the lot of us.
