Hello.
You'll have to forgive my ignorance at the terminology I use as I'm new to falconry. Basically I'd eventually like to get my own male harris hawk, so I'd like to build an enclosure for bad weather, a covered outdoor area to enable him to move around and keep fit and an equipment room. The size of the space I have to use is 14ft x 8ft. This could possibly(with gentle persuasion) be extended slightly due to the fact my girfriends mother is letting me build it in her garden. Ideally I'd like to build it in my own garden but its way way to small. It takes a few minutes to get to the parents place and the size of there garden will enable me to do some training there aswell. So is the size of the area any good for a decent housing environment. Also is there any company/person who draws up plans or ideas based on the measurments given or can you advise on any literature to read on the subject.
Many thanks in advance

The bigger the better, certainly longer(sorry). It's worth thinking hard about a double door, HH are fast and bright, and can make a bid for freedom.

I can see where your coming from, but we've been together 4 years, proposing to her in New York on the 28th so we're pretty stable(I bet thats put a curse on it now!!). I've even talked to the parents with regard to us(the parents and I) falling out and we both agreed the welfare of the bop would come first. Nice people.
So after talking to some people on this site I'm now thinking of a building a mews with a small weathering say 4ft x 4ft and if I can get a bit more space, an equipment room. I'm also looking into going on a 4 day course with a company called Yarak, based in Devon. Has anyone heard of this falconry centre or even attended on of there courses.
