Alex and I have been on the lookout for a good sturdy bow perch and have not seen anything yet that is the standard of our one from the UK.

Alex's sponsor suggested getting one made but I know that won't happen as I do not have the contacts.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Try Mikes falconry supplies or Northwoods falconry. They both have good bow perches, but expect to pay a handsome charge for them. If you want one made, either get in touch with some local falconers or simply draw one on paper and bring it to a local welding shop. They usually only charge 20-30 dollars to get one made for ya.

Bloody hell what is that? It looks like it was designed and built by Pierpoint.

like to see some pics of her birds sitting on it then :P

whats with the little decorations on the side? no ring would get over that - and then just wood to sit on? hmm.. wonder what she has as birds, have to agree with JB.. looks more suitable for an untethered parrot.

Just wrote her again...Here is what I sent her.

"You are most certainly NOT a falconer if you would dare endanger the life of a bird of prey on something a badly designed as that. Just because it hasn't killed one yet, doesn't mean that it won't kill one in the future with the poor sap that buys it from such a pathetic person as yourself. I think it's appaling that you have in gall to sell such a dangerous item to some ill-trained wannabee falconer. I say that as no falconer with ANY self respect or training would dare use such an item. All this does is speak badly of falconers in general when items like this do cause a death. You spoke of there never being anyone who tried a new designs? ....You must be out of your little mind as ANY falconer that see's that one would laugh till tears came to his eyes.....You have no idea what you are doing and are simply a cheap sod looking for a few extra quid at the expense of someone elses birds life!
Now, before I am done, you mentioned that this so-called bow perch is of sound design.....name me a few characteristics that show it is of sound design?....Since I doubt you will write back with anything intelligent, I will point out some of the many flaws in you **** design.
1. The perching surface is ****. A hard surface such as the one you have will cause bumblefoot over time not to mention that it sticks up which will prevent the smooth operation of the ring....Oh, that's right, there is no ring!!.
2. The perch is too tall which would allow the bird to walk through the middle causing the leash to get tangled.
3. I don't see a teathering ring on there at all even though you say it has one. If so, where would it go? If you where to put it on the cross bar, the bird could hang up if it bated staight over the top. If it where on the actual bow, it would get caught in the ridiculous ornate **** you built into the sides of the bow.
4. Again with the ornate **** on the side posts of the bow. These are simply asking for a bird to get either their pounces or their leashes/swivel arrangment hung up causing serious injury if not death. Please do us all a favor and destroy that worthless example of how NOT to build a bow perch.

Iamtheweasel, I know the perch is absolute ****, but don't you think you came on a little strong? I guess seeing as she already told you off cause she's never killed one of her birds on it there's some excuse, but..

I agree you're in the right, but sometimes attacking people makes things worse.

It was her responce back to me that rubbed me the wrong way....Even if she is polite, that doesn't change the fact that she is selling an inferior product that will kill or seriously injury someones bird. If you will notice, the item has sold....What poor sap has a bird on that perch now?
