is this safe and has anyone done this

in the boog goshawk by t white, he uses a rubber band type thing that snapped and the gos was lost as we know

but to prevent a leg breaking when training on the creance, is it possible to use a bungie cord so if it does try to fly away and so it wont break its legs the bungee will reduce the impact of a very bad jerk

anyone else tried it

cheers

Moses correctly used a creance can be used to slow and then stop the bird. So whats the point of something more technical to go wrong?

Creance can work as a smooth break... Normally the bird shouldn't even notice that he's on creance. If everythings goes well he'll be flying free before he realizes he's attached to a line. But as we all know, that's something hard and sooner or later we have to use the creance as a brake. Like K said normally all we have to do is to slow the bird and if needed stop him. Of course it doesn't serve to sudennly stop the bird (I've seen someone doing it!!!)

There's bungee leashes that you can use with birds that bait a lot on the perch, in order to avoid any leg damage. I'm using one at the moment with a tawny eagle that had a broken leg from baiting from the bow perch..

Harpy's on a breeding pen in the US, and I'm back to Portugal... Hope she gets along with the male and next season there might be baby eagles. If not maybe try A.I.
