Re: Flicker Male parent Peregrine x Prairie Falcon

Here is the Movie! Looks like the partridge didn't entirely dodge him on the floor as he took a handful of feathers out of it...

Re: Charliethetealady Intro

Hello Charlie,
I see you are not far from Clovelly and the North Devon Bird of Prey Centre. David Rampling who is the falconer there is approachable and very knowledgeable, and will know (of ) the...

Re: Flicker Male parent Peregrine x Prairie Falcon

Thanks Terry, yes that would be good.

Bind in the film was simple, I imagine because he approached in the blind spot. Stats show he was doing 80 mph at point of impact, partridge maybe 40 mph.

Re: Flicker Male parent Peregrine x Prairie Falcon

Don't know why this gradual changing from one to the other should remind me of the plan to change UK driving on the left to Continental style driving on the right. Was to be phased in...........

Re: Flicker Male parent Peregrine x Prairie Falcon

And this is another clip Terry took of Flicker grouse hawking. He hits his prey so hard, and this video reveals how he turns almost upside down before delivering the blow. Its sort of like a man...

Re: Telemetry help

Thanks. I could well make such an amendment to my hat but its still too warm here for wearing one. And I could take it off and hold it at arm's length if necessary. Or perhaps throw it in the air?...

Re: Telemetry help

I dont think I'll be making the hat, but you words 'higher and in the clear' came back to me yesterday when I lost the signal. I took the 'Microtrainer' out of my pocket and
held it at arms length...

Re: Telemetry help

You'd need the Marshall Pocketlink to pick up the GPS data, which it sends on to your iphone via bluetooth.
I don't think it would be overkill for a Harris'. I've had experience of tracking one...

Re: Telemetry help

I have the Microsensory GPS. I have found it usually takes just over a minute to get a location via SMS. But it very occasionally takes as long as five. To speed things up I have automated the...

Re: GPS in General

Thanks. When you cut the plywood it may be a good idea to make the ends a little less 'pointy', as they will then be less likely to wear a hole in the pocket. (But then my vest is a bit cheap and...

Re: GPS in General

The build is perfectly good enough. If you have seen the Marshall video of one of their transmitters being whacked on the desk, or heard the stories about them being run over you will have been...

Re: Microsensory GPS stuff

This is part of a 4 hour drive which I tracked by SMS using the Microsensory Transmitter. Locate texts were sent at 12 minute intervals. I have the entire process automated on my smartphone. I just...

Re: GPS in General

I use my Microsensory in the same way as Xavier. Most of the time the direct radio link is all that is needed, but on a few occasions the tiercel has disappeared behind hills, and then I have used...

Re: Microsensory GPS stuff

Yes, you could use it with just a phone, if you live in an area of good cell coverage. I've found a message often comes back from the transmitter in just over a minute, and usually in under two...
