An interesting thread, I have imped a friends goshawk using a number of materials, we found carbon fibre to be reasonable but brittle and metal rods from a model shop bend. One post on this subject suggested using old fashioned hair clips and reshaping the straight side with a dremel or similar. I can see the sense in this approach, it would have the elasticity and strength required for a goshawks tail.
