Thanks for the concern everyone, The dog spent three days in the vets, they think she may have an infection between the vertebrae in her back, she is a three week course of antibiotics at the anti-inflammatories. She looks much better than she was although she still isn't right. so just a waiting game now to see if the antibiotics clear it up. Have fed the Gos up now as even if the dog does make a full recovery it would be too late to start all over again anyway. Thanks to everyone who took an interest in the thread.
Kind regards Chris

Hi Chris,

That's a bit of a dampner for the spirit then but at least the Dog is on the mend, hopefully she makes a full recovery. The thread was great season, are you going to carry it on next season?

Best Wishes,

Bradley

It's a great shame your season come to an early end chris, especially under such random circumstances!
Your thread was a pleasure to read & I for one felt 'hawking envy' all the way, which must be a good sign

Hope your dog makes a full recovery & all the best for the coming year

Thanks guys, that's very kind of you to say so. I've normally got a gundog in reserve as I always work all my dogs with the gun and a hawk, but I have found myself in the position without a reserve this year. My old vizsla got put down about six months ago, and I retired my old Springer down to my mothers house back in the autumn. We have a young cocker at home, but she's only six months old at the moment, may have to think about getting another pointer puppy.
All the best Chris
