Forget a Dummy Bunny, procure yourself a real Rabbit Carcass instead. Get flying free and recall sorted before introducing the Rabbit.
Good post.a week after going free if shows no intrest in rabbit i give a full carcass pulled from bushes.full feed up then a slight weight drop usually does the trick.atb

Thank you guys, sounds like some good advise. It's much appreciated.
Will go out and shoot a few bunnies tonight. Head shot with rifle of course, no lead for my boy Gringo!

Do you have telemetry?

I do have telemetry but not fitted the tail mount yet so that's the next obstacle!

The best answer is find someone who knows what he or she is doing. It's called a mentor.

Good luck.

This should really have been done when the rest of his equipment was put on!

I do have someone who knows what they are doing. And I am familiar with the word mentor thank you!
However the breeder and others said to me not to fit the tail mount at the time that the rest of the equipment was fitted. Once again I hear conflicting advise. This is something that seems to happen a lot in falconry.

You would not want to fit the tail mount just before you fly him free as he may lose confidence in you, after all you are going to cast him, as already mentioned it should have been done at the begininig , what reason wher you given as to why it should not have been put on.

Anyone got any useful advice re fitting the tail mount? If it's going to prove to be too difficult for a first timer to do myself then I will need to take him for a drive to someone who can do it for me.

As a matter of fact, if the hawk is handled competently, there's no reason at all why it would, as you put it, "lose confidence" in the handler. It's perfecly possible to carry out this simple job and fly the bird as normal a short time later the same day. I've done this many times.
If handled properly, they forget such things as being cast almost immediately.
