Then just have the drone maybe 60/70 feet up with the the quail/lure just touching the ground some falcons do not like hitting the target in the air that close to the deck.
It all needs to be done very slowly and over a period of time..
I use a carp fishing bobbin, clipped to a small loop of strimmer cord, then the chute goes in and inverted bottle with a tiny cable tie just to stop the rotors blowing the chute out pre release..
Tod,
Thanks mate. Being far more careful now! Just some good info, nice and clearly laid out, like you have. Thanks again. Always wary to ask on some sites for fear of people trying to make you feel stupid for asking questions , obviously if YOU personally know the answer to something, then it's an easy question, but it doesn't make somebody who doesn't know the answer stupid.

Tod, I'm using the micro falconry set up now with the bottle hanging a good distance underneath, I DID have the same kind of set up as you but it was in the middle of where the gimbal goes and that was how it was when I crashed. do you think the bottle being on the drone as apposed to hanging like the micro falconry system is safer or easier in some way? As I say I'm just about to start my birds on the drone again now they are all through the moult and I'm a bit paranoid about accidents.

Shawn Hayes (he's on FB) has a pamphlet he's written up on training to the drone. You might want to contact him and get a copy. Shawn is an amazing falconer and really knows his stuff

Ideal. Thanks. Perfect Just for people like myself who need a little bit of guidance on the drone, the info on kiteing really isn't much use as it's all so different, apart from the end principle.

Hello Tasha
Not on FB, any chance you could contact him and perhaps get a copy posted on here if Shawn is in agreement.

To answer both questions,,,
Yes I think the bottle is better fixed to the quad leg,as there is less stuff flapping around..

The clip is adjustable for tension/weight etc,,,any fishing shop or ebay,,
just look for carp bobbin,,

Regards Tod..
