simon,

the only suggestion i have is when you make the button is to another 1 or 2 holes to increase the ply to 3 or 4 depending on the bird / size of eyelet . it can be a advantage to make a small round washer slid up the jesse against the button to protect against wear and allow it to rotate easier .

Mews jesses have slits in them to attach to the swivel. This is not suitable for flying, since they can hang your bird up in a tree. Flying jesses have no holes or slits and are just there to hold onto.

Flying jesses are only used with short and broadwings. Falcons can beflown without jesses, wearing only Aylmeri anklets.

Rgds,
Jannes

PS: This information is in any good falconry book.

It depends on the size of your eyelet on the anklets the ones i have made have 3 folds and a set has 2 folds so its up to you but i am no expert i am just learning myself but someone will point you in the right direction and correct me if i am wrong

Ive been making Jesse's for Harris hawks for a while and there dead easy,
i fold them over 3 times for the Jesse's but 2 folds will be fine. you just have to make sure the button is not to small that it can pull through the eyelet and not to big and bulky. just copy what Harris has done on the first page and you can't go wrong.
