Default ANGLO-INDIAN HOODS.

I've recently made these Anglo-Indians for a pair of Goldies:

I've used a 1.6mm veg-tan cowhide as the extra weight is more desirable than the lighter calf. It has a lovely grain which readily accepts dye etc. it's quite flexible at this stage until it is soaked to produce a stiffer hide.

There are approx 100 stitches per hood. Each hood is sewn to produce a !light-tight" seam. Both hoods have been dyed "mahogany" but the hood on the left is still wet after being "blocked" so it is darker.

(If anyone has a favourite hood but with old, "droopey" braces, just immerse the braces in some water for a few seconds, lay them flat, then leave them to dry. This should put some stiffness back).

Nice hood Shaun,

Yes I can see how a hood this size would require that many stitches. Your finger tips must be pretty numb, like mine lol?

I don't tend to get that many orders for Eagle Dutch hoods, more Anglo-Indians.

I do, however, get orders for the Dutch type but more for falcons etc. These average 90 stitches per eyepiece. depending on the type of stitch.

For the Anglo-Indians I use the running stitch but for the Dutch I use the cross stitch. A running stitch, as you know, would split on a Dutch when it was turned inside out and there's nothing more frustrating than having a hood split open when you've spent your time cutting, dying, stitching etc.

I've just re stocked on hides for Hoods, Jesses, anklets etc.

So if you want one pair of jesses/Anklets or 100 I can supply, no problem.

Here is a hide for Hoods. It's a lovely veg-tan with a smooth grain. Ideal for readily accepting dyes and finishes.

Hi William,
What would you like a sample of? I supply the finished goods such as Anklets, Jesses, hoods etc rather than hide per Sqft. Is it hide you are after?

Hi Ian,

I've just paid you via PayPal for an Anglo Indian hood. My female Goshawk should fly somewhere between 2lb 2oz to 2lb 4oz. Hopefully this should help with regards to sizing.

Regards Derry.

I'm sorry lads but I'm not in a position to supply hides. I buy just enough for my hoods, jesses etc.

If you google "The identity store" They're in Matlock, Derbyshire. speak to Pete or Jackie and they will be happy to meet your requirements.

I hope this helps.
