Default Looking for a mentor in Cheshire/ Merseyside

I'm completely new to falconry and I'm trying to find out as much as I can about it before buying a bird. I spend most of my free time reading up about it through the internet and books but theirs only so much I can gain from that lol any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Don't think Grovsey practices any more, which line of falconry are you interested in Hawks or Longwings? I will be training a couple of home bred Longwings this summer and quite often train them on the playing fields in ST Helen's near the clock face.

I would love to try both but I'm mainly into longwings, iv been reading up on falconry for years now but it's got to the point were I need someone to guide me. I'm still reserching and buying all the equipment at the minute I'm in no rush to get my own falcon I'd rather take my time and learn everything first so any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

I hope to be flying a Peregrine falcon and a tiercel to the lure if I'm lucky enough to produce one maybe a female Pere prairie or Pere saker on crows

I would love to fly a tiercel peregrine that's the falcon I wanted to get, either that or a saker. Which would you recommend to start with?

no reason it cant terry but who offers it, and more importantly who is going to give him access to decent and varied hawking ground over there ? its like rocking horse stuff ,to fly a falcon (and a tiercel should ideally be a game falcon) to any degree requires a lot more investment into game, dog, and ground than the fun he could have learning the ropes with a hh id always say unless you are under the wing of a longwinger hedge your bets with a hh or even a red
or again if you have guidance a gos but going it alone first time with a falcon in less than ideal conditions he will end up with a good lure bird if thats what he wants fine no probs but if he wants to hunt with it then its going to take a lot more

Then once you have a greater understanding of the additional requirements maybe go for it if you can meet them
