Default Breeding ferrets

i no this is a falconry forum but is it normal for ferrets to be so violent while mating ? i no the hob takes the jill by the scruff of the neck but it just looks a bit ruff to me i may just be paranoid lol

Yes it is normal but do be vigilant for wounds to the neck, and check that the Jill is getting the space to eat and drink. It's normal to separate them after mating.

Well its my uncles jill and the two hobs are mine she has plenty of space to get away from him first time iv ever seen it didnt no what to make of it

They are incredibly violent whilst mating-worryingly so in fact. But they should be fine, and never give into the urge to pull the hob off the jill, because the hobs penis is kind of hook shaped which hooks into the jill. Separating whilst mating can seriously damage the hob.

No my uncle has taken my bigger hob home for the night and put it in his jills cage and iv got his jill with my hob for the night

Good man! However without trying to teach you how to suck eggs, although 24hrs is normally long enough for a sucsessfull mateing, i would recomend that you give her 2/3 days then put her back in with the hob just to make sure, again just for 24hrs. Atb

When the Jill come In too season she grab him and take him in to her nest. Then I take the hob out

Yes after tonight we will split them up and put them back together for another night after shes had time to rest up
