personally i dont like back packs on a hawk that enters cover so hard and for the same reason i dont like leg mounted transmitters on hawks

heres a few options for bell mounting which might be of use, i use the stud type on all my birds you can get them from any cobblers/timpsons for a few pence

Nah just go into most cobblers or key repair shops they have them for fixing handbags i picked up about 20 for a quid last week, very easy to use and just cut them off at the end of the season

My birds wont except a tail mount, so i have no alternitive but to leg mount. I used to use a button bewit, however i stopped doing that a number of years back. What i now do is simply punch a tiny hole on the anklet above the eyelet, but slightly forward of it, i then use the punch to nick the outer edge of the anklet (slightly lower down from the tiny hole,) this creates a tiny notch which the loop of the bell rests inside when it is attached useing a small cable tie, the notch also allows me to angle the bell down, rather than haveing it sit straight out at right angles when the cable tie is pulled up tightly. Hope this makes sense. This method keeps the bell clear of the birds feet which other wise can happen when useing a bewit. Atb
