bewits ..... tiewraps are for lazy poeple , look awful and can be dangerous if not mounted correctly.
I have to replace a bewit on a bird weekly ........ but I can live with that

I use bewits and sometimes a small piece of leather with a tiny tie wrap with the bell attached.

Hi Matt,
I use a leather bewit but close with a cable tie. From The Complete Rabbit & Hare Hawk:

‘I use a standard leather bewit (the bell shank kept away from the leg by the traditional fold), but close with a small cable tie (fig. 5). I first described this method in the 1985 Welsh Hawking Club Journal and, with considerable testing since, have yet to find a better alternative: it gives a tidy finish and a perfect fit, without any guess work. The bewit is simply constructed longer than needed, measured around the bird’s leg, snipped to length, punched through and pulled together with the tie. The guaranteed close fit has the bell where it should be, around the leg, not the foot.’

All the best,
Martin
