Hi mate,

Get a mentor first then get the bird, especially a 6yr old RT and get the mentor to look at what your buying first "pretty please"

Hi there,

I know alot of people will try to change your mind, but, you really do need to take on board what they are saying, I pick my new bird up next weekend, a 16 week P R red tail, I've finished the lantra courses 1 and 2, and I started an apprenticeship at the owl Expirance in Risley, of which I'm 6 mths into that, I spend 1 day a week learning about all their birds, I've had 3 mths flying a male Harris....... And only now do I feel ready!!!

Please please, wait, do the training read the books get some expirance before taking a bird on which could and will hurt you!!!!!!

I was in the same situation and I, like you was looking at everything, but I took advice and waited.

I would suggest waiting but it is down to you,

Thanks

This is the best advice your going to get and it's all you need.

Please forget this hawk and try and get at least a clue what it's all about, thats at least a wait of a year before getting an EYASS

That's assuming you have EVERYTHING in place..

There has been Some good advice given although i wouldnt say a Red will hurt you if you watch what your doing
I woukd get to your local club and get out with people and see what its like read books and read some more
If it was me i would get a young eyass (spelt wrong i know) i wouldnt get a second hand one the chances of you getting a decent bird are dramatically reduced where as a young one you can mould to what you want to a certain degree and you dont want a red thats not keen on you
I hope you find what your lookinv for and good luck
When you get a good one though they are great birds

Atb Chris
