My aim was to catch a grouse, but she had her own agenda, and it was furry, a mountain hare, she did knock a grouse down in style, losing it in the heather.
Ha ha - excellent ! She looks upset you took her off the Hare.

Good fun that Grouse hawking eh ?

They say it's all about getting the flush right - but I still panic most times.

They are the masters of escape even after good solid knock down.

Me to, but what a buzz, the sound of her wings on her best flight, with a near vertical stoop, had me smiling all afternoon, a great 2 weeks up there on two different moors, with two different guy's who both new there stuff, and both had some cracking pointers, also plenty of patience to put up with this hedgerow basher. She had a small reward on the hare, because I had another flight, she was stuggling to stay on the glove in the wind.

Looks a nice healthy moor - with good Heather cover.

Good luck for next year on them.

Thanks nick, I'v flown 3 merlin hybrids at small game, and always wondered if a tiercel peregrine could do the job, with the added bonus of catching traditional game.

Regards Steve.
