Default Return of Elsa Imprint Golden Eagle

Well I have been meaning to let those who maybe interested know what Elsa is up to these days,
I have had Elsa for just under 2 years. When I was looking to get a Goldie I was really after a young 1st year eagle but then I saw Elsa for sale and thought it must be a sign. As the name since being a young toddler I had always kept for my Goldie was Elsa (named after the lioness in born free which was my favourtie film and still is if the truth be known.)

I had always dreamed about having a Golden Eagle but never thought it would come true. But then found my self in a situation where it was possible.

I have enjoyed every minute of time we have spent togehter so far. It has been a real learning curve for me but one I have enjoyed far more than I ever imagined. I am no expert when it comes to Eagle falconry but would never now want to fly anthing other than a Goldie. Except for when my shoulder is nackered from carrying Elsa around for the next X amount of years.

She is now 4 and at the moment well into the moult at but I am eargerly awaiting the start of out next season together.

Here are a couple of pics from last season.

I will try and give occasional updates especially when our new season starts.

ATB Reuben

Cheers she hunts at 9lbs 8ounces but can be flown higher but at this weight she is very focused. I played around with the weight she's flown lighter but tends to tire after a few slips. At higher weights she is still keen to hunt but not as responsive as she needs to be back to the fist.

Hey, great to see you started a thread. I do miss her, but she's in good hands and getting the time she requires. You have done well with her Reuben, speak soon.

Yeh I keep her focused on hare. Although she did take a pheasant more by accident than design. I got a photo of it somewhere!
