Mr Bolts diary

I'm still feeling nostalgic, i'll bump old Bolty's thread, all the different birds we fly, and dogs we work, the old friends who leave us behind, bring us to the person, we are now, gone but never forgotten. I'm having a fab season even though I'v took the foot off the pedal, some times less is more.

Time waits for no man.

Hello Donna, glad you liked it, always enjoyed posting and taking pictures along with my wife, I don't think I'll ever get another, still got shoulder issues from carrying him about for hours, even flying smaller birds on this farm has me holding my breath if they fly near the road that poor old Bolt ended his life. But never say never you never know whats around the corner, still got all the eagle kit.

I agree with Donna, really loved this thread & was devastated for you when you posted the news. I miss getting updates on Bolts although your doing a great job with the other thread & the Falcons.

well Steve, I liked reading of his exploits and comparing notes, like the dificulty of finding hares to fly!!

Im currently suffering agonizing nerve pain down my right arm partly caused by compensating carrying the eagle!

Zeus flew a long way recently and landed the other side of a busy road.....

I see your falcon posts on fb and im jealous!

If Zeus vanished tomorrow i think id fly a musket for a bit! i might anyway....hehe

Yes Chris, its a fine line for sure, never know whats round that corner.

There is a lot of this with eagle falconers, seems odd that you get trouble on the opposite side, but a lot of sports people get this when they hurt one limb and favor the other, I am having a lot more fun now, not so hard looking for quarry, I flew one back in my early days of falconry, I named him Grit, flew him for 6 weeks, no telemetry, never lost him in the field, but he got killed by a female he was paired up with, the female spar I flew was short lived, none stop action for 6 weeks 54 head, if my memory serves me correct, then the swivel broke in the garden, note to my self if you must use them, new one every month & use two. Hope you sort that injury Dave.

Hi Steve missed your company this year in Scotland Roy caught first day and then weather came in for the week always remember are day in the snow with Mr bolt regards Martin

Hi Martin, thanks for them kind words, I'v slowly got used to not having Mr Bolt around, and don't miss carrying that weight about, Glad your male goldie caught, I loved seeing him catch his first mountain hare. That day is etched in my memory, what a blast, coming down that large hill in the snow, I was glad you were an ex rugby player pulling me out of those holes, but best of all was watching Bolt coming back to the lure appearing like a speck in the distance, and glad the keeper picked us up at the bottom.
